PRINCIPLES OF HUERTAS VIRTUAL
Huertas College bases its existential purpose in training and preparing a person that can compete effectively in the labor world and contribute to society. The curriculum offering of the College is consonant with its reason for existence, and therefore, addresses the needs of the labor market. To fulfill with this philosophy, distance education is developed with the following principles:
- The Mission and Vision of Huertas College should be reflected in all projects of Distance Education.
- The academic distance education offerings provide equal opportunities for access to information to students and teachers.
- Distance education is defined as the process of teaching and learning between students and teacher when they are separated by physical distance and communication is conducted through one or more technological means.
- All distance learning projects will use the platform of choice for the institution to present the academic offering for the student.
- The distance education projects will use one or more emerging technologies for the presentation and/or academic content management: Internet, video conference, webcast, podcast, among others.
- The distance education offerings will meet the standards and requirements of Huertas College or accrediting agencies in the same manner that the regular on-site offerings.
- The distance education offerings address the needs of people with disabilities.
The participants or students in the distance mode education will have the same opportunities and privileges that the on-site student in terms of: application form, online registration, electronic mail (e-mail) institutional virtual library access all databases , online payment, and others that may be offered now or in the future.
